May 2007 - Gary Kemp is the presenter of a documentary on Radio 4 called Berkley To The Bronx -Roger Linn's Drum Machine. The programme goes out at 1:30pm on 29th May on BBC Radio 4. This can be listened to at a time to suit you using the Listen again feature on the Radio 4 website.
May 2007 - Tony Hadley is amongst the participants in a Radio 2 documentary "Talking Bout My Renumeration" about salaries in the music industry. The programme goes out at 10:30pm on Tuesday 22nd May. You can listen to this online using the "Listen again" feature at the BBC Radio 2 website up to a week after the show.
March 2007 - Martin Kemp is to star with Pauline Quirke the the BBC Radio 4 production of the play "Loving" by Henry Green. The play will be broadcast in two parts starting Sunday 18th March at 3pm. The BBC press release describes the production thus: "While war and social disruption echo from the "real" world, a tale of bickering, spying, scheming, anxious and unsettled servants and declining aristocracy unravels". This can be listened to online using the "Listen again" feature at the BBC Radio 4 website.
February 2007 - John Keeble's band I Play Rock are currently in the studio recording their second album.
September 2007 - Spandau tribute band Highly Strung are to play a gig in the Memorial Hall of Sheffield City Hall on 20th September 2007. Ticket details to follow.
  March 2007 - Martin Kemp's movie "Back In Business" will be released on DVD on 19th March 2007 in a Special Edition format with many extras. Please note this is a Region 2 release. It is available from Play.com For more details click here.

  November 2006 - Tribute band Highly Strung will be doing a gig at the Royston Civil Theatre  Royston, Barnsley on Saturday 11th November open at 7.30pm and tickets are �5 advance or �6 on door.
  December 2006 - According to his official site, Gary Kemp will appear in the second of a two-part episode of "Casualty" over the Christmas period.
  September 2006 - Celebrity Masterchef which will feature Tony Hadley starts on BBC Television on Monday 11th September. Further details here.
  August 2006 - Tony's Fan Club has announced that his album "Passing Strangers" will be released on 2nd October. On 17th November Tony will be on Radio 2 with the  BBC Orchestra performing songs from this album. This can be heard online (normally for about a week after it) the Radio 2 website. He will also be on Sky News with Adam Boulton on 10th September.

  June 2006 - A press release from De Naray Sothcott Entertainment  states that Martin Kemp will star as Paul Martin in a remake of House On Straw Hill. Filming will take place this summer on location in Norfolk.

  June 2006 - Steve Norman and Shelley went to see old buddy Mark Shaw at a concert in London last week and they performed a couple of numbers on stage.
  May 2006 - Tony Hadley has signed up to appear on the new BBC show "Celebrity Masterchef" along with Paul Young, Sheila Ferguson and Marie Helvin. - (Source Daily Express. )
  May 2006 -According to the film's website, Tony's short film "Gas" will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival, Palais G on the 20th May at 13:30.
  April 2006 -According to the website of Newlight Films, the production company behind "Back In Business" due to the interest shown in the first movie, talks are at an early stage to making a possible sequel to Back In Business. If this comes off, it is hoped that the original cast will be reunited for Back In Business II.
  April 2006 - Martin Kemp's movie "Back In Business" has now received its classification from the BBFC. It will be have a PG certificate. The films running time is just under 82 minutes. There is no further news on a release date and if it will have a cinematic release.

  March 2006 Gary has provided further information on his "missing movie" which is viewable at the London Theatre Museum. This is in fact a puppet show. Gary had bought the puppets for the museum from someone who was selling them following an inheritance. To celebrate the acquisition, they decided to put on the show for which they were originally made.
  Summer 2006 - Cloudfish have announced three more gigs. These are on 12 May and 14th July at the Maidstone Pizza Express and on 16th July at Ronnie Scott's in London. Info from Shelleypreston.co.uk
  March 2006 - Tony Hadley will be filming a TV special on 31st March. This will feature interviews and live performance footage. The programme will be broadcast in the Autumn. Info from fan club
  March 2006 - It has been announced via the Steve Norman mailing list that the Cloudfish gig on March 18th has sold out. They have also announced the more gigs are possibly in the pipeline, including one in London. The dates will be available on Steve and Shelley's sites. On Shelley's site you can currently hear some wonderful Cloudfish tracks played on rotations.
  March 2005 - Tony's fan club has announced that the swing tour will be in October/November 2005. The duets for the album are being finalised before mixing commences. Tony has previously mentioned that Jack Jones and Curtis Stigers are amongst his collaborators on this album.

  February 2006 - Steve Norman has said that he will indeed be writing songs with Gary Kemp in the future. This will not be for Cloudfish as he and Shelley are concentrating on their own version of standards for this band. It will be for other projects instead. He said that he and Gary are both "keen to get creating again together in a writing capacity, it's a matter of time and focus.
  February 2006 - You may be interested to learn of a little known Gary Kemp movie. It is called Maria Marten and he plays a character called Johnny Raw. The film, which was made in 1999, co-stars Joanna Lumley, Diana Quick and Bill Nighy and was directed by John Caird. Also going under the alternative title of Murder in the Red Barn and Victorian Music Hall, the film is only viewable by appointment only at the London Theatre Museum from whose website this information has come.
  February 2006 - Steve Norman has asked that people no longer try to order the Dome CD which contained the Cloudfish track  "So High". The link was previously available through this site and others, as the company appears to have run into difficulties. He is planning on making the track available on his website . So do keep checking back there on a very regular basis.  At the Maidstone gig, Steve and Shelley will perform   a selection of new songs and a selection of  standards which will be given the Cloudfish  treatment. Expect these to help shape a future CD release.
  February 2006 - Co-star Claire Goose announced on Virgin Radio that  Martin's two-part drama "Love, Lies Bleeding" will screen on ITV1 on 27th and 28th February. The production will also have a special BAFTA screening on 15th February at the Princess Anne Theatre. (source BAFTA).  A reminder that Miss Marple will air on 5th February.
  January 2006 - Tony Hadley has announced on Virgin Radio that he will now be joining Martin Fry on the Lost World Trek afterall. A Lost World website  will chart their progress during the adventure.
  January 2006 - Steve Norman has launched a new website. It contains details of the Cloudfish gig in Maidstone on 18th March 2006.

  January 2006 - Tony Hadley was rushed to Whittington Hospital in North London on Saturday 7th January.He had an emegency operation to remove his appendix. He is expected to remain in hospital for a couple of days recovery. He is hopeful that this will not affect his trek in aid of Action Medical Research later this month. His fan club has informed members that he will still attend the Planet Hollywood event prior to this, but he won't be singing. All other January engagements have been cancelled. I wish him a speedy recovery
  February 2006 - After too long an absence, Martin Kemp is set to come back to our TV screens in February. His episode of Miss Marple in which he plays Jackie Affleck is set to air on February 5th, with his two-part drama "Love, Lies Bleeding" which co stars Claire Goose and Hugo Speer also airing later that month.Info from Martin's original site

  October 2005 Steve Norman has been working with the Italian band "Quintessenza" for some time now and the album will soon be available. Samples of some of the tracks are available here To let you know that although "Everybody's Got ToLearn Sometime" is a Korgis cover, the other tracks available here were co-written by Steve. "Autumn in the City" he wrote with some other writers and the rest he wrote with Shelley and with other writers.
  October 2005 - At his fan club weekend, Tony said that on his swing album "Passing Strangers" amongst the guest performers will be Jack Jones and Curtis Stigers. Jack Jones won a Grammy for the original recording of "Wives and Lovers", which Tony now performs on tour. Thank you to Mary for this information. The album is due out in the Spring of 2006 and will also feature part of the LSO.

  August 2005 - Martin Kemp is amongst the judges at the Vodafone Life Savers Awards. The awards which have now been runnng for 4 years "epitomise the spirit of all those who work in the emergency services. They also recognise the courage of ordinary people who have found themselves inadvertently stepping into the shoes of the professionals in extraordinary circumstances." They will be presented at a lunch on 17th November and the event will be covered by the Daily Express and broadcast on This Morning.

  August 2005 - Steve Norman has completed his work producing the Italian quintet Quintessenza. They are a female classical outfit from all over Italy. The work took place in Ibiza and Sarnano. Steve fused their classical sensibilities with Ibiza-type electronica. He also played guitar, sax and some percussion on the CD and Shelley took vocals on various tracks. The album is due out soon in Italy and he is currently looking for a UK distributor.  He also hopes to start recording more Cloudfish material in the Autumn.
  August 2005 - In an interview in the Independent, Guy Pratt has said that Terrible Beauty has been delayed due to finding a suitable venue in London.
  July 2005 - The soundtrack for the movie "Sky High" which features a number of cover versions of famous eighties songs in a similar fashion to 50 First Dates is now available. Included is Cary Brothers version of True. Click here for further info.
  July 2005 - Further information on "Sleeping Murder" can be found on Sophia Myles Site. They were recently filming in Devon, click here for further info. The cast includes  Geraldine McEwan who will of course be playing Miss Marple.  Russ Abbot will be playing Detective Primer. As well as Martin the cast includes Dawn French, Una  Stubbs, Phil Davices, Geraldine Chaplin and Gary's best mate, Paul McGann. The project is being directed by Sir Peter Hall's son Edward. Expect to see this on our screens during ITV's Christmas schedule.

  June 2005 - Steve Dagger has now confirmed for me that there will be no public screenings of Live At The NEC, however the dates for the launch and release on the previous press release are incorrect and are in the process of being changed.
  June 2005 - Remember The Eighties reports that the release date of the Live At The NEC DVD is now August 20th. There will be a launch at the end of June at which Gary, Martin and Steve Norman will attend, however this screening is for the ladies and gentlemen of the press only and is not open to the public.
  June 2005 - As you will have seen on Spandau Ballet's official site, a new version of True has been recorded by Cary Brothers for the Disney movie "Sky High". The film is due for release in the USA on 29th July and in the UK on 21st October. It will star Kelly Preston and Kurt Russell.
  May 2005 - Lisa at Aim has informed me that Martin Kemp is currently filming a lead role of "Lord Arlington Spencer" in a film called "One Last Time". The film co-stars Dennis Waterman. He is in discussions to star in another movie called "Dance With The Devil" although these discussions are at an early stage. Sky News said that John Altman and a certain Gary Kemp are also in discussions to appear in this movie.
May 2005 - The Live At NEC DVD and the re-issue of Little Bruises has been put back by Sony from their stated date of 16th May until later this year. EMI have informed me that their Spandau DVD that was originally entitlted "Gold" is not scheduled for release at any time during 2005.

  April 2005 - The BBC reports that the movie "The Wedding Singer" is to be turned into a Broadway show. It will premiere in Seattle in January 2006 before moving to NYC in April. In the movie version, "True" was the major feature in the movie being sung at the wedding at the end. Here's hoping the same scene makes it to the stage version.

  May 2005  - A date for your diary is 16th May. Both the "Live At The NEC" DVD and the re-issue of "Little Bruises" are scheduled to be released that day.
  February 2005  - Martin Kemp is one of a host of celebs that has contributed to "National Doodle Day" which hopes to raise a pot of cash for epilespy. You can see his Andy Cap style doodle and bid for it here.

  February 2005 - American Daylight, the Anglo/Indian film in which Gary Kemp had a small role and that was directed by Roger Christian, was screened the European Film Market which is part of the Berlin Film Festival on 16th February. The film's producers are hoping to sell the movie for European distribution as they already have sold it to most of the South-East Asia markets, including Singapore and Japan.
  January 2005  - "Don't Watch This Space" were Tony's words when asked about the reunion prospects on the David Jenson radio show. His view on the matter appears to have not changed since the publication of  the hardback edition of his autobiography where he said there was "no chance of (Spandau) ever playing together again". At a book signing at the time he said if things had been done differently, "it might have been different". His interview with David Jenson echoed this. He also revealed that he has added a chapter to the paperback edition of his book talking about the recent negotiations to try to reform the band.

  2006 - Gary's official site has reported that Gary is still hoping to reunite Spandau Ballet and there is a "slim chance" of a reunion sometime in 2006.
  April 2005 - Gary's official site has reported the the release date for "Live At The NEC" is likely to be April 2005.
  January 2005 - Despite the best joint effort from Spandau Ballet sites I have seen in years, the disappointing news is that "True" didn't make it to the final 5 short-listed songs for BRITS 25. Thank you again to everybody that voted here and abroad.
  January 2005 - I have discovered via the BMI a "lost" Gary Kemp song called "Damage Is Done". I have asked Steve Dagger about this and he has told me that this was written by Gary for Eric Clapton, at Eric's request. However the song, although published, has never been performed nor recorded.
  December 2004 - Canadian band "New School" have sampled "True" on the track "Back In The Day" on their self-titled album. Find out more here. Steve Dagger has informed me that the track has been played extensively on Canadian radio.

  November 2004 - Tony Hadley picked up an award for Best Live Performance at the Forth Awards for his performance at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh. At the awards ceremony former Duran Duran employee, Jimmy Devlin admitted that before the famous Pop Quiz duel in 1984,  he has acquired the answers in advance and had rehearsed them with Duran Duran.   October 2004.  - In his fan club magazine, Steve Norman has said he is now a columnist for "Ibiza Now" magazine.

  October 2004 - In his column for the fan club magazine Steve Norman said that he would be happy if the rumours of a Spandau Ballet reunion became a reality.
  October 2004 - The official Spandau Ballet site revealed that work is nearing completion on the official biography of Spandau Ballet. The book is due out sometime in 2005. I have made enquiries about foreign language editions of this publication, but Steve Dagger has informed me that it is too early to say if the book is likely to be published outside the UK.
  March 2005 - The paperback edition of  To Cut A Long Story Short will be published for which Tony, according to his fan club magazine, is writing an additional chapter.
  October 2004 - In the latest edition of the HNK fan club magazine, Tony Hadley has revealed that he has changed his mind on the releasing the album of new material, which once had the title of "Lobsters and Limousines" and has instead decided to concentrate efforts on releasing an album of jazz-swing standards. This should be out sometime in 2005

  October 2004 - Gary Kemp's latest movie "American Daylight" will feature as part of the London Film Festival. Details of screenings of this movie can be found here
  October 2004 - Sony have informed me that the planned re-issue of the CD of Through The Barricades with additional material has been put on hold as they are concentrating efforts on the production of the DVD which fans are certain to enjoy. The release date for the DVD has still to be confirmed although many sites are advertising it for sale later this month. The item is still being finalised and may not be released until 2005.
  October 2004 - It's Martin Kemp via Linda Barker in the "Battle of the Sofa Ads". ScS Sofas have signed Martin to appear in a series of adverts, commencing 1st October. For further info click here .

  September 2004 - As reported during the Summer, Nelly's album "Suit" contains a track that samples "True". The track in question is called "N Dey Say". This is now available and you can hear a sample of it and download it for a small fee here
  October 2004 - Many fans will have noticed that the online DVD shops are selling a DVD entitled "Spandau Ballet Gold" for pre-order. Please note this is NOT the Greatest Hits DVD which is due out from EMI next year which will be multi-region. It appears to be another re-issue of the 1989 tour which most fans will already own. It is not one of the releases endorsed on Spandaubalet.com. The Sony release Through The Barricades tour DVD will be entitled "Spandau Ballet - Live At The NEC" and will also feature the promos for the singles they did on CBS.  The catalogue number for the "Live At The NEC" DVD will be 2012589
 
  February 2005  Tony's tour with Martin Fry will run from 1st February until 10th May. Opening night will be in Bradford. A few dates are also available on the Tony Hadley Fan Site.   August 2004 - Those who have seen Boogie Nights 2, the Eighties musical starring David Essex  which has just started its marathon tour around the UK tell me that the musical features a host of your favourite songs including "True" which is sung by the entire 20 strong cast.   Jul 2004 - In the Ultimate Number Ones poll on VH1 "True " reached Number 19. Thank you to everybody that voted, especially those  using the link provided on this site and elsewhere. Thank you also to Emma Bennett who also publicised the poll on "Instinction". 
  July 2004 - Gary Kemp is a father again. His wife Lauren gave birth to their son Milo Wolf Kemp on 14th July 2004.
November 2004 - A 4  DVD set of Live Aid will be released worldwide on 1st November on Warner Vision. Further information here.
September 2004 - Look out for Nelly's CD "Suit" which  is released on  13th September. It is reported to contain a track with an excellent sample of "True". Read more here
  May 2004 - In the BBC Sold on Song Poll, True reached its highest ever position in recent years for favourite songs, that of 21. Over 150 people linked to the BBC site from Spandaupages.   June 2004 - According the the Shelley Preston Yahoo Group owner, Shelley and Steve Norman are now working with an Italian band called "Quintesensa". Their Cloudfish project also continues.
May 2004 - At his book signing in Glasgow, Tony informed me that he will be touring with Martin Fry from ABC and that Shelley Preston has now left his band "to do other things".
  March 2004 - Michelle Collins has been named as a possible co-star in Martin Kemp's new TV drama "Can't Buy Me Love". No news yet on when they are to start filming. Info from AIM
  March 2004 - Report in the Sun on Friday 19th March that has since been replicated in a number of web-based news sites and on local radio, of a Spandau Ballet reunion have been firmly denied to me by Martin Kemp's agents. At a concert the same night, John and Tony also denied this to fans from the stage of their concert that night. 
  March 2004 - Online music magazine "Side-Line" reports the sad death of John McGeoch, who worked with many of the great artists of the eighties and at one time planned to form a band called "Pacfic" along with our own "John Keeble". Read the story here.
 

February 2004 - Tony Hadley's official site has been updated with news of an upcoming DVD with Peter Cox and a new track that he has recorded for a Kool and The Gang Greatest Hits album. See his site for details.

  March 2004 - The soundtrack to the movie "Suzie Gold" which features a cover version of "Gold" was released on either   March 8th. Read All about it here.
