The World Parade And Steve's Knee
The World Parade was their most ambitious to date. British venues included Ingilston Showground in Edinburgh where the Prince of Wales attended the gig as it was raising funds for The Princes Trust.
The band for the tour included keyboard player
Toby Chapman who would become a regular on tour with them. Backing vocals were provided by Shirley Lewis and Ruby James
In the middle of the American leg of the tour disaster struck. Steve Norman during one of his more flamboyant sax solos decided to do a rock n roll hero slide across the stage in LA. He seriously damaged his knee joint requiring surgery. The rest of the tour was cancelled. To view some great pictures of Steve around this time click here.

The band then spent their tax exile year in Ireland, during which time Gary wrote the songs for the next album and they were also in dispute with Chrysalis, feeling that their record company did not do enough to promote them in the USA. Chrysalis released two albums "12 inch Mixes" and "The Collection" which the band refused to promote and asked their fans to boycott.

The band also participated in the Band Aid recording of "Do They Know Its Christmas"   This of course was followed by an appearance peforming Only When You Leave, Virgin and True at
Live Aid
