The Final Chapter ?
When the Kemp brothers returned from filming The Krays they went straight into the 10th Anniversary Spandau Ballet tour promoting Heart Like A Sky.As well as Gary's songs,  the album contained the first song written by another member of the band, Steve Norman's "Motivator". Steve now performs this song himself during Hadley, Norman and Keeble concerts. The last song on the last album was poignantly entitled "A Handful of Dust".
The rest of the band had difficulty dealing with the Kemps doing something outside the band, especially during the tour when flyers advertising the movie were placed on the seats.
On Tuesday 6th March 1990, in front of a packed Edinburgh Playhouse Gary said "this is our last night of the tour". It was, at it turned out, to be the last ever concert by Spandau Ballet. Spandau Ballet never formally announced a split, they just stopped recording and playing together. After all these highs it simply fizzled out.

A few years later things turned sour. In 1999 Tony, John and Steve took Gary to court claiming  a share in Gary's song writing royalties. Although Gary rightly "won"  the case and kept his royalties, the wounds on all sides still run very deep and it seems the friendships have been damaged beyond repair.
2002 saw the members of Spandau Ballet entangled in another legal web over the ownership and registration of the trademark of the band's name and  a dispute over the way in which Tony Hadley, Steve Norman and John Keeble bill themselves when performing gigs around the world.
On a happier note,In 2000 a newly packaged Greatest Hits was released. Entitled "Gold",this went platinum in the UK, proving that even 10 years after they stopped recording Spandau Ballet's music still has a huge audience. September 2002 saw the release of a 3 CD set entitled "Reformation" which  includes early demo, live tracks, other rare materials  a brand new mix of "True" and a hum dinger of a accompanying booklet containing fantastic early photographs of the band and their friends.. The classic "True" album was also be re-released in a new format for the 21st century in March 2003 in time for its 20th anniverary.
